The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is the nation's largest organization representing members of the architectural profession. AIA is committed to strengthening the value of the architectural profession in the building industry. As such, AIA Asheville strives to provide members with a network of support and information with industry professionals across the state.
AIA is a 3-tiered organization. Membership categories include Architect, Emeritus and Associate at the national, state and local level. Architect members are licensed architects. Emeritus members are retired architects. Associate members are individuals who have a professional degree in architecture, or individuals currently working under the supervision of an architect in a technical capacity directly related to the practice of architecture, or faculty members in a university program in architecture.
